Reconnect through learning, culture and community

Light of Hope Foundation’s free 12-week community re-engagement course.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to be heard, to learn and to contribute.

Participants bring their own goals, experience and cultural identity; activities are adapted to what matters to them and the support they need.

We begin with

Breathe • Ground • Connect

We begin with practical ways to pause, notice what is happening and choose a next step. A participant may choose natural breathing, gentle movement or quiet reflection, then practise communicating a preference, asking for support or joining an activity. Spiritual or cultural reflection is welcome when chosen by the participant; no religious practice is required.

Tasks are matched to each person’s interests, abilities and safety needs.

Communication across every activity

Participants practise conversation, self-expression, boundaries and self-advocacy during real tasks. We recognise the difference between completing a task with assistance and completing it independently.

Choice and review

Participants choose whether to join an activity, share a story or appear in a photograph; these are separate choices. Through the 12 weeks, we review what the person chose, what they did, what support helped and what they want to try next. Volunteering is optional. A pathway beyond the course can be discussed when suitable.
